Human Age Institute organized a new edition of PowerYou Xperience in collaboration with 3 Spanish universities. On this occasion, the focus was on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) profiles, which are among the most demanded by companies today.

This program of meetings between university students and companies aims to improve employability, promote the development of skills and professional skills of young people and prepare them to face the challenges posed by the future of employment . For this reason, students from Loyola University, the University of Barcelona and the Pontifical University of Comillas ICAI-ICADE have gathered at a virtual event that brought together attendees from the different campuses of these centers, located in Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Córdoba and Seville.

After a welcome ceremony by Julia Rodríguez, director of Development at the Human Age Institute, representatives from the three universities spoke: Esteban Almirón, director of the Professional Careers service at Loyola University; Cristina García, head of the Talent Hub of the IL3 Continuing Education Institute of the University of Barcelona; and María Victoria García, director of the Talent and Business Office of the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas ICAI-ICADE.

Subsequently, Enrique Serrano Aparicio, founder and CEO of Hackrocks, took the floor with “Engineers and the future, it’s your moment”. In this motivational talk, he reviewed his own professional career and pointed out several factors that must be taken into account when applying for an engineering position. In addition, he stressed the importance of continually renewing oneself: “in such a changing world , you can only do one thing: train yourself”.

Soft skills or soft skills were also widely addressed in the different interventions. In fact, Scherezade Miletich, Director of HR Development at Fujitsu, assured that “flexibility, adaptation and listening skills are essential qualities in any candidate”.

For her part, Leticia Linares-Rivas, South Human Resources Business Partner of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, highlighted the opportunities that are being generated in the STEM field and did so by announcing that: “in the coming months, we plan to hire one hundred specific professionals for the Artificial Intelligence and Data Center of Excellence, between engineers, data scientists and the rest of the profiles in this area”.

For his part, Fernando Aguilar, Commercial Director of Experis Spain, referred to the importance of a culture of effort and the need to maintain a positive and constant attitude towards learning. He synthesized it in the phrase: “as soon as you stop learning, you stop being an expert”.

To end the PowerYou Xperience and after answering the questions of the students, Paula Rojas, promoter of Employment of the Human Age Institute, gave the workshop “The interview of the future is now”. During it, she presented concrete examples so that future candidates know better what a selection process is like today.
